Zhenya Vitort

Biography

The Belarusian-Canadian pianist Zhenya Vitort holds a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Toronto. She was privileged to study the art of piano with Irina Semenyako, Natalya Tyomkina and Boris Lysenko. During her studies, Zhenya has appeared in masterclasses with such distinguished artists as Emanuel Ax, Yo-Yo Ma, James Levine, William Bolcom, Mark Morriss, Dawn Upshaw, Adrianne Pieczonka, Roger Vignoles, Yefim Bronfman and Pinchas Zukerman.

 

 

 

 

Mrs. Vitort has performed at the Luminato Festival Toronto, Festival of Contemporary Music in Toronto, The Banff Arts Centre, Tanglewood Music Festival, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, The Kennedy Centre and The New York City Centre. 

She has been a pianist with The National Ballet of Canada since 2011 and has appeared with the company’s orchestra as a piano soloist at the Four Seasons Centre For The Performing Arts in Tarantella, Piano Concerto #1, Marguerite and Armand  and Concerto.

Her local engagements include collaborations with Toronto Children’s Chorus, Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, Opera York, Opera Belcanto Of South Simcoe, Toronto City Opera, Beth Tzedec Synagogue Choir, Toronto Gay Men Chorus to name a few. Zhenya is an avid promoter of contemporary music and had recently premiered three vocal cycles by late Canadian composer James Moffett and had accompanied a Canadian premiere of the new opera for Jewish Music Festival in Toronto in a livestream on the New Classical 96.3FM radio station. Mrs. Vitort has an affinity for vocal music and with her husband, tenor Stanislas Vitort (among other outstanding singers), have given numerous recitals of art songs, opera and musical arias, as well as programs of jazz and pop music. 

The art of Piano Pedagogy and the Education of young children through music, literature, poetry, and movement have been Ms. Vitort’s passion and an integral part of her professional development. She maintains a rather small private piano studio, organizes educational programs for children and attendance of cultural events in the community, as well as runs a music class for kids ages 3-6 (The Art of Upringing/Воспитание Искусством).
